This piece is part of a larger series of paintings I've worked on this year. It is built up with many layers of collage, acrylic paint and drawing materials, using meandering lines, colour and stenciled shapes. I allow the painting to unfold and speak to me while I am making it. There is a dialogue, a mirror, and I arrive at a point where I listen and the work says it’s finished. It’s a very intuitive process where I embrace and play with the unexpected. Through the layers of pigment there appear glimpses of imagery, faint whispers that seem familiar yet unclear, much like memory, half remembered dreams and our inner knowing.
