Rebecca Hawthorn
With a background in design, New Zealand artist Rebecca Hawthorn swapped a career in the fashion industry to become a full-time artist in 2018.
Rebecca’s work is inspired by the beauty of nature. Her highly stylised floral paintings are created intuitively with many layers of brightly hued paint. The richly textured surface of her paintings are buried beneath a thin coat of black paint, which is quickly wiped away to expose the organic floral shapes beneath. Rebecca's work has been exhibited throughout New Zealand, and this year has been featured in a collaboration with Walker & Hall.
