Karen Covic
Karen moved to Auckland from Brighton, England 10 years ago. Before leaving UK, she attended London’s Slade School of Art summer school and has been serious about painting ever since. After four years at Browne School of Art, she had a year of mentoring by Simon McIntyre and she is currently studying for her Masters of Fine Art at Whitecliffe College. Her work is gestural, expressive and colourful. She likes the tussle between freedom and control of materials and the extent to which the artist intervenes.
